Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

So, I ventured out at midnight last night to catch the final installment of the Star Wars franchise, so now it's time to cast my verdict. I was extremely apprehensive, after having fallen asleep during Episode II's midnight showing.

Fortunately, this time, the hype lived up to the delivery. This was an excellent Star Wars movie, and a good movie in it's own right. The special effects were excellent, the action gripping, and the storyline moving.

For a more detailed review (with some minor spoilers), read on...

I was a bit concerned during the first half of the movie that Obi-Wan was being portrayed a bit comically, and not a true Jedi master, but this was redeemed about half way through the movie when he went off on his own and kicked a**!

I even thought Hayden Christianson was not too bad, but that might just be me remembering how bad he was in Episode II!

There were definitely some very corny moments - usually when George stops doing action, and starts doing dialogue (surely he could have got a script doctor in to fix up his romance scenes!), but they were at least hidden between the action, and comedy (R2-D2) which was missing from the last two installments.

My biggest disappointment was with Padme. Not because of poor acting, but because her character was completely wasted. Sure, she's pregnant, but I don't believe the intelligent, composed, strong woman from the first two movies would turn into such a submissive, pathetic character. She is supposed to be central to the whole plot - the whole reason why Anakin turns, and yet she is provided nothing to this storyline except two babies! Surely it could have been her who discovers Anakin's dark leanings, and tried to stop it?

That complaint aside, I have to say - an excellent movie, definitely the best of the latest set, probably better than Episode IV, and well worth the money to see!

A journey begins...

Well, I am about to embark on a journey into the world of blogging. I'm not too sure how I'll go, but I will be trying to keep this blog a mix of technical (Notes/Domin, web and other) as well as personal comments, pop culture reviews, opinions and pretty much anything else I feel like writing about.

I hope you enjoy reading, feel free to make comments - as long as you keep them clean, inoffensive and spam free!
